Why I Write

When I read Betsy's post at Teaching Young Writers called "Why I Write" I was instantly engaged.  I began thinking about why I write.  I told her in my comment that I was going to print her poem and hang it for inspiration.  I did and it didn't let me down!  I thought about it for a few days with ideas bouncing around in my overcrowded mind until this morning when it all just came out.  I had fun playing with my word choices...my thesaurus got a work out too!  I have to say I'm proud of this one and thanks again to Betsy for nudging this one out of me with the power of her words.

Why I Write

I write to
Deliberate
Refresh
Review
I write to process my thoughts.

I write to
Love
Boost
Buoy
I write to share my strength.

I write to
Wonder
Dare
Dream
I write to publish my soul.

I write to
Communicate
Release
Remind
I write to regain my balance.

  2. Isn't it interesting how someone's words push us to think through what is in buried deep within our mind and heart. That is what I love about reading the posts. This is lovely.

  4. I love this. You should be proud. I'd like to share it with my students. "I write to share my strength. Love, boost, buoy." Great word choices and all the best reasons to write.
